If you have been following some other forums or blogs, I'm sure you already know what the surprise was yesterday. Everyone was sure that American Idol would blow the competition, as it did, because it always does, because it's the number one show in the world, because Ryan Seacrest (even though a lot of people don't like him) is the best host in current TV (as well as Anderson Cooper for the news)...It did a great 8.9 in the 18-49 demos and 24.905 million viewers (yeah, yeah, whatever...it's down from last year but...it's HUGE and up from last week). The rest of the networks combined (including Univision) did a 9.4 in the demos (that's only 0.5 more than Idol....ALL TOGETHER!!) But the surprise yesterday was...FOX's Lie To Me!! We were all wondering whether it could stand alone without Idol help...and hell yeah it did!! It made approximately the same numbers it did last week with the Idol boost, so I'm pretty sure we will hear soon about a renovation in Century City. I can't wait to see next Wednesday's numbers with Lost and Idol competing for the hour :)
